If you are interested in volunteering with Lubuto’s libraries in Lusaka, A Broader View Volunteers Corp is a placement agency with whom we have entered into a partnership to support our volunteers. A Broader View Volunteers (ABV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in Pennsylvania, that collaborates with small non-profit organizations and humanitarian institutions to provide logistical services to their volunteers. ABV works to ensure the best quality and safety of their destinations, accommodations and projects, and home stays allow volunteers to keep their costs low, while also enjoying a more direct experience. Project sites, housing and host families are continuously monitored. ABV facilitates the application process, including collecting documentation, provides travel planning advice and program payment. Quite simply, they do all the legwork in arranging your Lubuto Library Project volunteer placement in Lusaka. ABV coordinates all the details, provides travel information and wide-ranging support, then oversees the volunteer while in Zambia. You can find additional information on the A Broader View Volunteers website at: www.abroaderview.org
Volunteers interested in donating their time and skills at Lubuto’s libraries in Lusaka are welcome to apply online to A Broader View. Professional librarians and teachers can provide direct children’s/youth services and training to library staff and assistants, or librarians with other backgrounds can help the Lubuto organization in training and implementing organization, collection development and monitoring and evaluation systems. Volunteers with backgrounds in the visual and performing arts or in health or psychosocial counseling can also assist in offering and developing those programs. The Lubuto Library Project is open to discussing a variety of possible contributions, which will vary through time as new libraries are established.
