Deaf children
Lubuto Libraries are the only public libraries in Zambia to offer free services for the deaf and hearing-impaired. This includes technology for the hearing-impaired, sign language resources, outreach targeting the deaf community and sign language story time, which is held three times a week. These services are also offered to non-hearing-impaired children and families who are excited to be able to better communicate with their friends and family members. Future plans include strengthening partnerships with Zambia Deaf Youth and Women and the Zambia National Association for the Deaf to expand our offerings and reach and empower more children in need.
