Elena Michaels joined the IMF in 2001, and works with Executive Board in the areas of corporate governance, budget management and human resources. A New Zealand national, she holds Masters in Political Science and Governmental Studies from Victoria University of New Zealand, and has also previously worked at the New Zealand Treasury, Ministry of Economic Development and Department of Justice. As a Visiting Scholar in the Governmental Studies Program at the Brookings Institution, Elena has also studied government reinvention and public/private partnerships in a variety of contexts. Her most unlikely career moment to date has involved wearing a clown suit while typing a letter dictated by a man riding around the office on a unicycle.
