This week has seen me attending two really interesting meetings. At the weekend I was involved in a strategic planning workshop at Fountain of Hope. Well, I say involved - I didn't really contribute anything as I didn't feel that I knew enough about the organisation to do so. But I did learn a huge amount about how FoH works, the various programmes that take place there, how the Lubuto Library fits in, and how we can develop the partnership for the future. I also came away with a far better idea of the challenges facing the organisation as a whole, and the work of the Library in particular. The meeting was supposed to be a couple of hours long on Saturday morning, but it actually took about 7 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday to finish off! I think it was worth it though, and I look forward to seeing the strategy document. On Wednesday I went to a meeting with Lubuto Library Project and the Zambia Library Service (which is part of the Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early-years Education - I hope I've got that right!). The Lubuto Library Project and MOESVTEE are forming a partnership and the meeting was to discuss the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations. It was really good to meet some fellow Librarians in Zambia, and very helpful in giving me a view of the work that the Lubuto Library Project is doing on a wider level. I came away feeling quite excited about the future.
